Open House / JAE 2011 Series : Frequently Asked Questions

Admissions / Intake

How many students are we taking in this year?
This year we have 30% more places in JAE!
To ensure high quality of graduates, we will be admitting 150 students this year.

Why is the course intake so small?

Intake is small to ensure high quality of graduates. However, over the years, intake size has been gradually increased to cater to the high demand. This would mean more chances for you to join us!

Besides JAE and DAE, what other avenues do I have to join AMS? What is JPSAE (AMS)?

With effect from 2011, applicants may also apply to AMS through the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE). It is a Special Admission Exercise open up to all students who have strong interests in AMS but may not meet the COP as selection will be based on a broad measure of merits beyond GCE O level results. However, in anticipation of the high demand, you need to place AMS T04 as your first choice under JAE in order to be shortlisted under JPSAE.

Shortlisted students will be required to undergo an aptitude assessment and interview.

I applied for JAE, can I still apply for JPSAE?

Yes, you should! Students who have applied for AMS T04 in the JAE may also apply directly through the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE).

However, in anticipation of the high demand, you need to place AMS T04 as your first choice under JAE in order to be shortlisted under JPSAE.

Shortlisted students for JPSAE will be required to undergo an aptitude assessment and interview.

If I did not get into the course, how do I appeal?

There will be a JAE appeal exercise held after the release of the posting results.

What are the criteria for ITE students?

Currently, there is no direct feed or advanced standing for ITE students. However, you may wish to enquire with the Registrar’s Office (admissions@tp.edu.sg) for more information.

How to transfer from JC/other courses to AMS?

You may wish to transfer via the Direct Admission Exercise (DAE). For more information, you may wish to contact the Registrar’s Office (admissions@tp.edu.sg).
